History

Production Development – Begun in 1996, Scott Jones created a system of Mass Customization from the ground up. Spending over 5 years developing a system that would allow companies like Beyond Clothing to successfully create American Made Custom Technical Outdoor Clothing.

Custom Fit

By 2002, the system was in place, proven, and gaining recognition. In ’02 and ’03 alone, Scott received the 2003 National Young Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Small Business Administration, and the 2002 Editor’s Choice Award from Backpacker Magazine.

Computerized Cutting     Production Technology

By 2003 robotic computerized cutting was installed. With the increased capacity and ability to replicate, along with fully digital measurement modifications, Beyond was 2nd to none in Mass Customization of technical apparel, and speed to market with Rapid Prototyping capabilities.

Uniform Development – By 2007 Scott Jones had developed and produced custom apparel for thousands of skiers, hikers, climbers, and cyclists the world over. A proven respected system of American Made production, state of the art outdoor products made with Polartec, Schoeller, Nextec, and GORE-TEX fabrics was built. On the tactical side, Beyond Tactical was known as an elite brand with products made custom and enmasse for groups such as FBI HRT, SEALS DEV GRU, SOCOM, and Air Force Pararescue.

With the portable design technology, an established factory on hand, and 20 soldiers ready to test samples with intensive training, a majority of a new Tactical Uniform was designed and developed in El Paso, TX over the span of two weeks.
Program success continued with the full customization of SOCOM’s Protective Combat Uniform. Fitting the smallest to the largest soldier, an entire 23 garment kit would be created and shipped in under 4 weeks. As the PCU was developed with many expert companies involved, Scott Jones’ Beyond was now the only company with full authorization for all layers, and the industry took notice.

Custom PCU began to be produced in factories across America to handle the needs of Armed Forces. As the success of the program continued, substitute fabrics began to be offered to meet the needs of Maritime and Mountain groups alike.

Technology Development –

You could call Beyond, created by Scott Jones, an apparel company. It just as easily was a technology company. BeyondFleece.com launched in 1996, one of the first e-commerce sites. When BeyondClothing.com launched in 2002, its capacity for offering a full rendering of the finished custom fleece or soft shell was revolutionary. capture_05The front end allowed the customer to modify, and view, the chosen features. It didn’t stop there. It also not only allowed the placement of measurements, but also how the user would want the garment to fit. Snug technical college student climber? Or loose for a dog walking grandmother. The same product, fit the needs of the client perfectly. If not, our Right Fit Guarantee, would fix it in record time with no questions asked.

Business Development – At Beyond, To Clue, Tree House Holdings, and with our clients, we understand the need for different business styles and solutions. Lean Manufacturing may be able to be implemented throughout an organization. Traditional production or business management may be needed, with baby steps allowing for improvement of moral, finances, capacity, or customer centricity. It’s all possible, and we’re here to help make your business, or team, successful.

What happened to Beyond you ask? Beyond Clothing.com, its technologies, production capacity, and brand was successfully sold to 5.11 Tactical in 2012. Over 6 months Scott personally managed the transaction, and sale.
